Paragard liver flavored tablets are indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal worms in dogs. It is used in treating roundworms (Toxocara sp., Toxascaris leonina), hookworm (Ancyclostoma sp., Uncinaria stenocephala), whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) and adult tapeworms (Taenia sp., Dipylidium caninum, Spirometra erinacei and Echinococcus granulosus) in dogs. The allwormer is highly effective and does not have any known side effects.
The oral tables are suitable for use in dogs and puppies above 2 weeks of age.
Paragard contains praziquantel, pyrantel and oxantel. It starts working as soon as it is ingested. All three ingredients work by interfering with the transmission of impulses in the nervous system of the parasites. This leads to paralysis of the parasites and its ultimate death. Thus, the oral treatment helps in controlling various types of intestinal worms and prevents future infections.
