Nexgard Combo is an extended version of the Nexgard parasiticide range registering itself as the first and the only broad-spectrum anti-parasitic spot-on treatment that works on both internal and external parasites including fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms, tapeworms, lungworms, and ear mites. The new triple-action formula is precisely created for cats which comprise of three active substances: esafoxolaner, eprinomectin, and praziquantel. The wide-ranging treatment protects cats for a complete month against fleas, kills them within 24 hours of administration before they lay eggs, and is useful as a part of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) treatment. It kills Ixodes ricinus, the most frequently found tick on cats, within 48 hours and protects for five weeks. Nexgard Combo prevents heartworm infections, treats roundworms (Toxocara cati and Toxascaris leonina), hookworms, and tapeworms, plus it offers 97.2% to 99.9% effectiveness against ear mites in cats.
Once administered as a spot-on treatment, Nexgard Combo works with a systemic mode of action. Esafoxolaner kills external parasites (fleas, ticks, or ear mites), whereas the other two ingredients (eprinomectin and praziquantel) work on internal parasites (heartworms, tapeworms, and roundworms).
Esafoxolaner interferes with the neurotransmission of the parasite that consequently leads to an uncontrolled nervous system of the parasite and results in death. It effectively kills fleas and ticks within 24 and 48 hours respectively. Esafoxolaner prevents the re-infestation by killing fleas before they lay eggs and stops household contamination as a result.
Eprinomectin prevents heartworm infections. It also obstructs the nerve and muscles of the roundworms that leads to paralysis in worms and death at the end. Praziquantel kills tapeworms by damaging their cell membrane.
